Seen Within a Square is an abstract ballet choreographed to the second cello suite by J.S. Bach. The structure of this ballet for 10 dancers is totally inspired by the music. The live interpretation of the second cello suite has been conceived as part of the ballet. Bach's cello suites are made up of six movements, as is the choreography. The basic idea which fuels this work is to be found in the double meaning of the word 'Square', indicating both a geometric pattern and an open space. Although each movement reflects a specific image and atmosphere, the choreographer leaves room for interpretation by the viewer.

Olivier Ghislain, Mieke De Lauré, Geert de Bièvre and the internationally known cellist Roel Dieltiens have accompanied past performances.

Dedicated to Olivier Ghislain (+2002).
